A Letter From The Editor

Luxury Travel Is Changing — And It’s For The Better.

T

his publication has been a long time in the making. For years, I have been writing for private clients and under the lens of other publications — pitching stories for their audiences, under their guise and with their worldview. Along the way, I have honed my own perspective that I not only can’t shake, but don’t see widely explored or scaling anywhere else.

There is something new to be said about what luxury travel has become — today, experiences are the new social currency and savvy, avid travelers are rejecting vapid opulence in exchange for unique and meaningful experiences.

Modern, luxury travel is also multifaceted.

As Jacu Strauss so perfectly put it during our chat a few weeks back, “What is luxury to me is very different from what is luxury for someone from Dubai.” For some, luxury is a secluded hideaway. For others, luxury is someone else making breakfast and serving it up on a silver platter — literally. There’s the luxury of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The luxury of being waited on hand and foot, or the luxury of being left totally alone to think and reflect. The luxury of a coveted Michelin Star reservation. Or, a meal served family-style under the stars with fellow guests you otherwise would have only passed in the lobby.

Here at The Suitest, we’re dedicated to going beyond the industry tropes that present a narrow view of luxury. While we wouldn’t exactly turn up our nose to the presidential suite, private pools, white table cloths and champagne, they’re no longer the definition of a luxury experience.

We embrace a modern luxury that can’t be put in a box, but is defined by our shared passion for beautiful places and experiences that indulge our sense of wonder, adventure and discerning tastes. A community of curious, cosmopolitan, design-forward and audacious people — I want The Suitest to be your trusted source for intel and inspiration to curate a life well-traveled.

What’s more, it is important to me that The Suitest embraces modern luxury for not just what it has become, but the direction it should be moving in. We are committed to creating a space that is inclusive and open to communities and individuals that have been excluded from the luxury travel narrative. While legacy media is rushing to deploy a more inclusive editorial approach, this will be part of The Suitest’s DNA — inclusive with the images we curate as well as the stories we write, and commission.

Part of our outward gaze will also fall on sustainability and regenerative travel, highlighting the changemakers, properties and hospitality groups that are planting the seeds for this movement to take root in the future of luxury travel. Amanda Ho, the co-founder of Regenerative Travel said it best. “We have an opportunity now to build back the travel industry in a way that's more inclusive — creating more abundance for everyone, all stakeholders. The community, the land, the people and the wildlife.”

Now, after a year of honing this editorial direction, it’s finally time to invite you to experience it. I feel like there is so much more I could say — but, I’d so much rather show you. So please, take a look around and read our very first pieces! Wander through our pages and get a feel for who we really are, how we speak and the stories we like to tell. This is just the beginning, but I’m so excited to see where this journey will take us. I hope you’ll join us for the adventure!

Sincerely,
